External Training - ENOP - Wildland Engine Operator The purpose of this course is to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to operate and maintain a wildland fire engine during pre-suppression, suppression, and post-fire operations.

External Training - FI-110, Wildland Fire Observations and Origin Scene Protection for First Responders The primary emphasis of this course is to teach sound wildland fire observations and origin scene protection practices that enable first responders to a wildland fire scene to perform proper origin scene protection procedures. The course is presented by short lectures, electronic presentations, exercises, and class discussion.

External Training - Groundcover This course is designed as an introductory course for new wildland firefighters, or as a refresher. It provides firefighters with basic wildland firefighting WUI and safety information. This course covers all the requirements for basic and intermediate State Firemen and Fire Marshal’s Association’s Section 25 Ground cover Firefighting.

External Training - L-180, Human Factors in The Wildland Fire Service This training course is designed for unit-level supervisors to use when delivering orientation training to new crew members. Presentation of the course involves a few short lecture segments, but the primary content is delivered by video and supported with small group exercises. Topics include situational awareness, basic communication responsibilities, attitude and stress barriers, decision-making process, and teamwork principles.

External Training - Motor Grader Operator (MGOP) This course was developed to provide an overview of wildland fire operations to our local
government cooperators.  The course is intended to provide relevant information about fire
operations so that these individuals can operate safely and effectively when assigned to a
wildland fire.

External Training - RT-130 The intent of RT-130, Wildland Fire Safety Training Annual Refresher (WFSTAR) is to focus line-going personnel on operations and decision-making issues related to fireline and all-hazard incident safety in order to recognize and mitigate risk, maintain safe and effective practices, and reduce accidents and near misses.

External Training - S-130/190 Basic Firefighter/Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior S-130
This course is designed to provide entry-level firefighters skills. Field time is encouraged, and many of the units are set up so they can be taught in either the classroom or the field. The field exercise for Unit 12 is required.   ** NOTE: This class no longer includes IS100 or L180 that is required for certification/qualification with most wilfire credentialing organizations.

S-190
This course provides instruction in the primary factors affecting the start and spread of wildfire and recognition of potentially hazardous situations. S-190 is typically taught in conjunction with or prior to Basic Firefighter Training, S-130. It is designed to meet the fire behavior training needs of a Firefighter Type 2 (FFT2) on an incident as outlined in the NIMS: Wildland Fire Qualification System Guide, PMS 310-1, and the position taskbook developed for the position.

  S-130

External Training - S-230 Crew Boss (Single Resource) Blended S-230 is a blended course, with an online training (OLT) component, and Instructor led training component. The ILT may be delivered in a traditional or virtual classroom environment. This course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to perform the duties of the Crew Boss (CRWB) position, as described in the NWCG Incident Position Standards for Crew Boss, PMS-350-98. Topics include travel and check-in in, briefings, assigning tasks and assessing crew performance, implementing fire line duties, mop-up, firing operations, using aerial resources, medical emergencies, and wildland urban interface.

External Training - S-231 Engine Boss (Single Resource) This is a skill course designed to produce student proficiency in the performance of the duties associated with Engine Boss, Single Resource (ENGB). Topics include engine and crew capabilities and limitations, information sources, fire size up considerations, tactics, and wildland/urban interface.

External Training - S-359 Medical Unit Leader (MEDL) This course is designed to provide the skills and knowledge needed to perform in the role of Medical Unit Leader (MEDL). Topics include gathering information, organizing the medical unit, supervising the unit, evaluation, documentation, and demobilization.

This course is offered in a Blended Training format.  A Blended Training format combines elements of Online Training (OLT) with elements of Instructor-led Training (ILT).

Online Training component: In the OLT, students explore the knowledge and concepts required to meet the responsibilities of the MEDL from mobilization to various incident changes. Students are required to complete the OLT portion of the course and pass the assessment prior to taking the ILT portion. The OLT is estimated to take 3-4 hours to complete.

Instructor-led Training component: The ILT portion of the course provides scenario-based activities that allow participants to apply the knowledge and concepts required to meet the responsibilities of a MEDL identified in the NWCG Incident Position Standards for Medical Unit Leader (MEDL). Activities will be assessed using NWCG Course Skill Assessments completed by the instructors. The ILT will be in-person, for approximately 2-1/2 days.
