Brief Description: S-231 Engine Boss (Single Resource)

Full Description: This is a skill course designed to produce student proficiency in the performance of the duties associated with engine boss, single resource (ENGB). Topics include: engine and crew capabilities and limitations, information sources, fire size-up considerations, tactics, and wildland/urban interface.

*This is a test course for the NWCG S-231 re-write.

Training Dates: 10/09/2025 - 10/10/2025

Prerequisites: Qualified Firefighter Type 1 (FFT1)
Successful completion of S-230 Crew Boss
Successful completion of required S-231 online training for course

Directions to Location: When turning into Gate 5 from FM 2336, proceed through the gate to the marked parking areas. Check-In will have signage outside and be in the first portable building along the left side of the roadway into camp.

Class times: 0800-1700 every day (unless otherwise specified by the instructor)

Please report to Check-In before your first class begins. Check-In opens at 0630 each day. Students need only check in once, even when registered for more than one class.
