S-230, Crew Boss (Single Resource) (Blended), 2023 Instructor-Led Training Component
Full Description
S-230 is a blended course, with an online training (OLT) component, and Instructor led training component. The ILT may be delivered in a traditional or virtual classroom environment. This course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to perform the duties of the Crew Boss (CRWB) position, as described in the NWCG Incident Position Standards for Crew Boss, PMS-350-98. Topics include travel and check-in in, briefings, assigning tasks and assessing crew performance, implementing fire line duties, mop-up, firing operations, using aerial resources, medical emergencies, and wildland urban interface.

Prerequisites
Firefighter Type 1 (FFT1) Qualified.  (Completion of S131 alone does not satisfy this requirement)
Successful completion of S-290, Intermediate Wildland Fire Behavior
Satisfactory Completion of the S-230 Online Component.  This may be completed using either the NFA (National Fire Academy) or WFLP (Wildland Fire Learning Portal) platforms.  Refer to class documentation for more completion information.
