A comprehensive training course designed for individuals who need to master
fundamental navigation skills and mapping techniques. This course covers the essential
use of compasses, GPS units, and maps, providing participants with a solid foundation in
reading coordinates and understanding topographic maps. Key topics include the
principles of navigation, using latitude and longitude, and the basics of compass usage.
Additionally, the course includes an overview of the Fieldmaps program/app, which is
used for mapping wildfires in Texas. Participants will gain practical skills to enhance their
ability to navigate and interpret geographic data effectively, making this course ideal for
anyone involved in field operations, emergency response, or outdoor activities.
